I'm kind of in the MMO mood again, and Aion is one of the big name titles that ought to be out soon. I'd really like to give it a try, but I'm nervous about a few things.

1) WoW-clone-itis. There's nothing wrong with imitating the most successful MMORPG of all time, but I played way too much WoW, and got thoroughly burned out. I don't want to even think I'm playing the same thing again. Most of the reviews I've said say that Aion is indeed very similar, but has enough tweaks to make playing it a completely different experience. I'm not sure that's enough for me, though.

2) PvP focus. From what I hear, Aion is all about PvP. I don't have anything against that, and in fact would like to play around with some real PvP, but I know enough about my preferences to realize that I need a compelling PvE adventure. I'm afraid PvE will go the way of Eve (a game I wanted to like so darn much).

Anyway yeah, those things bother me. Are they as bad as I think they are? I know I should have just tried the beta at some point, but I can't play it on the hardware I have, and am waiting to upgrade until I find a compelling MMO to make me want to.
