If you're like me, you probably saw the newest DLC for DA:2 and thought "shouldn't that have just been included in the $60 game I bought?" Principles aside, I wasn't about to not play the newest addition to what I still believe is a deeply flawed game, but also an entertaining one.
MotA adds a couple of things that were new, as well as brining back some things that were old. Tallis, the Qunari-elf assassin, has an interesting new set of abilities that are pretty fun to play with. She also operates as a hybrid between melee and ranged, throwing daggers from a distance but able to quickly close the distance to deal some up close and personal damage. I don't really care much for Felicia Day, but having her likeness and voice attached to Tallis worked well.
Also, puzzles! Legacy had a few of these, but they really made some cool ones this time. Some portions reminded me of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but only towards the end.
Also, new stealth mode section that was fun and challenging.
Regarding the plot: it was basic, with a few twists. Tallis is basically trying to steal a jewel that really isnt a jewel but a Qunari defector trying to deliver a list of names of Qunaris agents in deep cover all over Thedas. Dialogue makes Tallis' motivations clear (for the most part), but you have no option to keep her on your team when it's over.
Ultimately, I liked it. I feel like it really should have been developed along with the rest of the game and simply included... DA:2 certainly wouldn't have been such a disappointment if I had gotten out of Kirkwall once in a while. But whatever. It was a fun DLC. I recommend it.
