That's because of rarity issues. The cartridge is hard to get ahold of, and so is expensive to buy, and none of that money goes to Nintendo. What is the worth of the game, itself, would you say? I mean, were Nintendo to put it on Virtual Console, (it may be there, IDK) what would be a reasonable price to pay?


I'd easily pay 5-10$ for a game that I enjoy. Why wouldn't I? I'd have paid more for it back in the day anyway. I've purchased StarCraft three times (which is pretty pointless since I could now download it infinitely from Battle.net since it's registered). Still, I don't think I'd purchase old games I've never played, so I don't know if I can adequately answer your question.
