What does Nintendo have against processing power? You don't HAVE to cripple yourself! beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 09/06/2011 12:55:21 AM
Jesus Christ, it's like they did the N64, saw that having TWICE THE BITS THAN PLAYSTATION !!!!!!!! didn't automatically make them win, and went "screw it, technology is for chumps"

Listen. I'm not a graphics snob. I don't need insane 3d graphics- I think a distinctive art style, like Odin Sphere, or Team Fortress 2, is cooler in the long run.

But the Wii U? Is the hardware equivalent of the PS3 and 360. Consoles that came out 5 YEARS AGO. And the original Wii was basically just a souped up Gamecube.

It seems obvious to me that Nintendo is trying to do what Microsoft did with the 360- the first company to release their "next gen" console gets a huge advantage. But if your "next gen" console with a name that sounds like a fire siren is just as good a piece of hardware as the previous generation? You are going to have issues.

People can say "Oh, well, graphics are so good that they don't need to be improved anymore. Nintendo isn't worrying about graphics." I have two responses to that.

First, you're an idiot- there's always room for improvement. Until images look so real that your baby sister in the next room looks stuck in the Uncanny Valley by comparison, we can do better.

Second, you're still an idiot- it's not just about the sharpness of the graphics. There's still framerate, and number of models on the screen, and size of maps (this last one is a big thing with me. Unless a game is specifically designed to be open-world, it can easily become claustrophobic if it's not designed correctly. I LOVE giant maps- it's one of the reasons Deus Ex for the PC is my favorite game (and, conversely, Deus Ex for the console makes me shiver in rage). Giant maps filled with stuff take processing power, though.

Grrrr it just irritates me so much. Stop slacking, Nintendo! Make your controllers slightly less gimmicky, and throw some quad core processors in there!
I amuse myself.

It's still not something Nintendo wants. - 08/06/2011 08:02:01 PM 566 Views

Heh. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was a bad console. - 09/06/2011 07:24:48 AM 695 Views

Only one Wii U controller per system. That's a big downer, IMO, even if they'd be pricey for 2+ - 10/06/2011 04:04:43 PM 626 Views
