The only game I've ever bought day-one was the Cataclysm expansion, and I did get the collector's edition. I justified it to myself because I was getting an in-game pet an a bunch of other stuff, but really, it was a waste of money and I shouldn't have done it :P I also got DA2 day-one, but that's because it was a pre-ordered X-mas gift.

Generally, I'm busy enough that there's rarely justification to buy anything day one (or even "Early";). It's not like I'm going to get to play it anyways :P
