But then again, I am some sort of heathen monster that doesn't think that highly of Chrono Trigger. Don't get me wrong, I like it well enough! But I think it's just good, not astounding, or perfect, or the epitome of the rpg experience or any of the other things it is usually regarded as.

Well, I don't generally like Japanese RPGs too much, so all things should be considered relative. Can't really think of any better right now, but maybe it just slipped my mind. It was very fun, didn't have boring superfluous quests to bog you down nor require level grinding and it had awesome music.

That aside, I like Chrono Cross because it has really good music. I also like the characters (the important ones anyway, I agree that there are far too many of them overall, and most of them are trivial at best).

I generally like the music as well, except for, unfortunately, the battle theme. And you get to hear that one a lot, sadly.

The graphics don't bother me. And if you're capable of enjoying Chrono Trigger, with its graphics, then I really can't imagine how you can find these offensive. They aren't up to FFX levels, but they're not bad, and certainly better than Chrono Trigger.

I'd enjoy the original Mario Bros with its graphics better that gratuitous early 3D. Graphics that look bad because they're old is just part of playing a game from that era, graphics that look bad because you decided to make it 3D even if there was no actual need to are an irritant to me.

I somewhat agree with you about the scale, because I would have liked to see more of the things that were mentioned in the game. However, I think it's better to have a properly detailed small area, than to have a full yet barren world. I sorta get what you're saying about some of the dungeons feeling like they have no real purpose for existing... But then again, some of the things you listed were optional areas that you didn't have to go to, so that may be the reason.

Oh really? That's interesting. I don't seem to recall going off the beaten path or anything when I came upon them, but that might explain why I felt it was poorly paced.

I seem to remember being a touch annoyed, or maybe bored with the game, at least after a while. I don't remember why since it was so long ago, but perhaps that is the same discontentment you feel with it. I didn't finish it either, though I know I came very close to the end. But then again, that isn't necessarily the game's fault, because I have a habit of dropping games when I reach the last dungeon, lol. Still, overall I think it's a good and enjoyable game, and one that I will undoubtedly eventually come back to. And maybe even finish...

Not me. I stop playing games when I know they're terrible, which is not the case here, but otehrwise I generally play through the whole thing. Except Heroes of Might and Magic II where I was defeated by difficulty .

That happened to me with Star Ocean 3 and it's momentum-killing plot-twist. *NM* - 14/03/2011 08:03:35 PM 228 Views
The entire plot was like a bad sci-fi novel... - 15/03/2011 04:48:24 AM 486 Views

Best track ever, you mean. I had it as my alarm clock for two years. - 16/03/2011 05:41:28 AM 440 Views
Yep. This is why you pick a good song that is not your favorite. - 16/03/2011 06:13:36 AM 446 Views
Nah, the best alarm clock song is the prelude to Sweeny Todd - 16/03/2011 04:21:31 PM 493 Views
Great music, but the plot was a bit meh, and too many characters hurt it, I think - 15/03/2011 07:16:47 PM 429 Views
I think I'll start playing it again. - 15/03/2011 11:42:29 PM 475 Views
