This actually works very well...unless you're married and both play the same game in the same guild :\ Another one that works very well is just unplug your router for a minute, vent and game crashes on all PCs at the same time. Then close game+vent+whatever, power the router back up, and go do something else for a bit. When your guildies ask where you were, just tell'em your interwebs went out and didn't come back on for so long that found entertainment elsewhere. This one has the added bonus of the more frequently you use it, the more believable it becomes

I've found that the more often you use the latter excuse, the quicker you get replaced in Raids when it's actually true. I remember one time when WoW actually crashed for me and I heard them say "Damn, there he goes again" and they had replaced me before I could log back in, because I'd developed a history of not coming back. So they didn't hold my place for five or ten minutes like they would have normally.

I could see people not knowing Black Temple fights. That instance is from the old level cap.

I know, but look it up BEFORE you start.

Why keep playing if you aren't enjoying it?

There's a social obligation.

It's a video game. People need to be understanding.

Social obligations exist wherever socializing occurs. *NM*

That doesn't make them meaningful.

Well, you didn't specify meaningful. Even so, I don't understand the antagonism.

This. Any sort of cooperative game will create social obligations somehow. *NM*

Only when it requires a huge time investment.

Dude. I've been "trapped by social obligations" for a text-based game.

And yet they do. In fact, end-game in MMOs are built on them, and would not function otherwise *NM*
