Being able to chill in a city and check your auctions, talk to guildies, etc, would be fun, even on a phone. Some limited grinding wouldn't be out of the question either. Of course, then you have the issue of people trying to raid while on their phones, and dragging everyone else down with them. Maybe limiting mobile clients to non-instanced areas would be a good idea.
My distaste for WoW & MMORPGs aside, I agree that mobile versions should probably be 'lite' for the reasons above.
I could see a market niche for an exclusively mobile MMORPG, but WoW's the only thing popular enough to make it worthwhile. There would be something inherently cozy about getting back home to log in proper, though. So maybe mobile-only wouldn't go anywhere. iPad/Tablet, maybe...
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.

So...how long before we can play WOW on our phones?

Given how crappy the graphics are, I'd say it's a data issue.

"Bad" is subjective. By any modern technical standard, however, they are inferior.

They're definitely antiquated, but from a business sense, doing so makes a ton of sense

I've noticed that MMO's that have tried to usurp WoW with superior graphics have failed.
