The minimum system requirements are a good measure, but I would use them exactly opposite of the way you do. WoW's graphics win in that category over most modern games because they are able to function with fewer restrictions. They do more with less.

No, they do crap with less. They don't do more than anything.

Sure they do. If I load up WoW right now on my computer, I get graphics that are cartoony and sometimes even ugly, but adequate to play the game. If I load up Mass Effect 2 right now on my computer, I get graphics that are glitchy and sometimes entirely absent, and they make the game unplayable. Clearly, WoW has better graphics than Mass Effect 2.

Pong does not have better graphics than WoW. WoW does not have better graphics than Mass Effect 2. You're using better in two different ways and thereby conflating "better" quality with "better" value; the two are entirely different concepts.

I too am referring to "better" quality. WoW's graphics are superior to those of many modern games when played on the computer I currently use most often.

A $2000 computer likely has more quality than a $300 one. Now, if a person can't reasonably afford that computer or doesn't need the additional quality that it has, the $300 is a better value. But that doesn't mean that the $2000 computer is of a lesser quality. When you say the $300 computer is a "better purchase" for a typical user, you're making a value judgment, not a judgment based on quality.

Many more factors would need to be taken into consideration to determine whether the $2000 or $300 computer is a "better purchase." It isn't anywhere near as cut-and-dried as the automobile analogy, where Geos are almost always better than Ferraris.

We weren't actually comparing computers anyway; we were comparing computer graphics. So anyway, a game whose graphics can be properly displayed on my computer always has better graphics than one whose cannot.

You might counter by claiming that my computer cannot run the best graphics. That is a difference of philosophy that likely cannot be reconciled.

Apples and oranges.

They are very close, and a case could be made for the convenience and cost of the apple, but based on sheer nutritional value, oranges are better than apples.
