A request for more WOW help (Help me making my alternates)
Currently my main character is level 41 human mage focusing on Frost Talents. My server is Duskwood.
Recently one of my friends started playing WOW as well (his girlfriend got him to start playing, he is a computer gamer as well). They started new characters together and are currently level 17 (though she has a level 80 main). These guys are leveling too slow and I am gaining levels faster on my main than they are.
Furthermore I want more inventory space, as well as wanting more Gold (leveling Enchanting is expensive, yet I chose Enchanting for flavor wise it goes with a master of magic.)
Because of this, I am about to create some alternate characters. Here are my current plans, I will appreciate input.
My Main Character, Level 41 Human Male Frost Mage
Professions are
Enchanting (Skill level is 219)
Tailoring (Skill level is 181)
Alternate 1
Night Elf Male Hunter (I want different races but still same faction and same server)
Professions (see below)
Alternate 2
Either Dwarf or Draenai Paladin
Professions are
Unkown
Blacksmithing
Now here are my questions
1) For my alternates what professions should I take. On my Paladin I want Blacksmithing for sure, but I have one free slot. I assuming I will play the hunter more than the Paladin for I prefer ranged and it is easier for soloing from what I read. I am trying to figure out which professions I should do on the Hunter (I am thinking these below).
A) Skinning and Leatherworking. Make more Gold for farming for Mats while I level, some of that gold will go for my main. I can also turn some of the Mats into Leather. If I go this route I definitely want Mining on the paladin to compliment his Blacksmithing
B) Skinning and Mining (Dual Gathering). The focus with this character will be farming and making as much gold as possible (while I play the character). I then use my Paladin Blacksmith with the Mined goods. I still have the empty slot on my paladin so if I go this route which profession should be my empty slot.
C) Skinning and Herbalism (Dual Gathering). Pretty much the same as above. If I do this I want Mining on my Paladin to compliment Blacksmithing
2) What talent paths should I do on my Hunter and Paladin. I am thinking Beast Master for Hunter with a Cat/Wolf as a pet (choosing the pet based off flavor).
3) My God the level 40 mount is so expensive but my Main wants it

Probably skinning/leatherworking on the Hunter and mining/blacksmithing on the Paladin.

The race really isn't going to matter that much for a paladin IMHO

IMO, ask on your server about gathering professions

When it comes to professions: Gathering professions make money. Crafting professions lose them

I have to disagree somewhat

Yeah....I kinda sorta agree with both of them, as strange as that sounds.

I understand the principle, so which would you advocate, with that logic?

If you want to make gold, just level your main and forget alts

Wolves are the highest dps pet in the game though, thanks to Howl *NM*

if he enjoys BM, there's no reason he needs to switch to marksman.
