The most frustrating thing about Mass Effect is that when you're running anywhere you move SO SLOWLY (I've started timing my sprints after I kill the last enemy so I can cover ground while sprinting availability lasts). I was overjoyed when I saw Running shoes in Pokemon whatever. That game was one of the worst offenders.
In Mass Effect I don't mind having limited sprinting in battle, but I hate not even being able to sprint at other times. Heck, I wouldn't mind limited sprinting out of battle; it would be realistic. I just hate the slow, constant jog.

That can certainly be frustrating, especially in a game with a lot of backtracking. *NM*

a lot of the gamer-angst about the new WoW expansion is based on this.

Little things like that can make a big difference - in atmosphere, too, not just game mechanics.
