Would a new player know or care about unit frames? I tried running with customized unit frames for a bit, and while they were pretty and positionable, they broke after a patch and then I just went back to the default, which does the job just fine for me. Raids seem to be the only place where the default unit frames tend to fall down on the job a little. The default is fine for five-mans.

I found the default frames too small to be useful when the UI scale is minimized. And if he doesn't like it, he can delete it as you did.

The lag bar can be handy for a mage once you get the hang of the gameplay and want to squeeze more speed out of your spells, for sure. You can do this without the lag bar, of course -- just start your next spell when the current spell is about 80% through its cast -- but a lag bar will show you more precisely.

I like having the regular-sized target casting bar available.

Yeah, if you can find people in-game who will answer questions without being idiots about it, those people are worth their weight in gold. There's a lot to learn when you're new.

With RealID, he could add friends that are already playing. Heck, I sent him my email so he could add me if he wanted to. Certainly a lot better than asking randomly in a town.

You're worrying too much, and min-maxing too much. And a lot of this advice is very, very bad. - 18/07/2010 07:03:43 PM 633 Views
