I don't know if it is a girl thing. I love killing the minor bad guys. Hacking and slashing is an excellent way of getting rid of pent-up aggression and (I am convinced) keeps one from acting out one's violent tendencies in real life.
But I do not see the point of bosses. They just increase my stress levels. They are evil and damned impossible to kill.
It's annoying when there is only one way to kill them or the game is actually set up in a way that you'll most likely need several attempts to kill him. There have been games that I never finished because I lost against the boss after a 20 minute battle or so.
The ending has to be challenging but fair, not excruciatingly hard, it doesn't need a boss per se, as far as I am concerned.
Agreed. Although, rather than give up on the game I'll just hand the controls to Tor (since the games I play are generally written for 14-yearolds, and he played them when he was a kid). But yes.
I don't mind bad guys getting harder to kill. Even one that is especially hard to kill and shows up all alone the first time. I am fine with that. But when you have to run around and predict random lightening bursts while avoiding a stupid thing that shoots out of its head, while all the while trying to kill its hands, I get miffed.

It depends on the type of boss. There are two broad categories, one of which you'd probably enjoy.
