On the one hand, you might think that a company is making an MMO instead of a single player game, and thereby keeping you from your favorite kind of title. On the other hand, the company obviously thinks that making an MMO will bring in more cash than making a single player title. What will they do with more money? They will make more games.
It's true that MMOs might be making you miss out on some single player games, but then again, they might just be funding those same single player games. An awfully large number of game companies have gone belly-up over the years, primarily because they can't survive a failed game. If an MMO is safer, or provides a cash cushion to work with, that MMO might be responsible for the continued existence of your favorite series.
Anyway, if you don't want to pay monthly fees, that's fair enough (though I've argued many times on this board that playing an MMO you enjoy is cheaper than playing an equivalent number of single player game hours). However, I don't think the production bit is quite as cut and dry as you might imagine.

Their solution is to make the other classes bad ass and level the playing field.

And I don't see why they can't level the playing field to some extent.

That would be an interesting twist. Maybe play as a Witch of Dathomir, or some other variation. *NM*
