I'm beginning to think I was lucky to get out of London so easily.

I woke up on Thursday, turned on news, saw volcano and went and bought a rail ticket at 9am, before my flight was cancelled. This may have been a stroke of genius. The train was heaving and I had to stand for the 1st 2.5hours, but I got home not long after I was meant to on a flight. Now of course all trains are fully booked everywhere it seems.
One mate is still stuck in London and another did a 15hour hire car drive from Holland to Madrid with 7 people.
I am however getting worried about my USA flights in a couple weeks.

So, I am Volcano-stuck in Rome, but I want to be in Edinburgh

Tim said you were stuck in Rome. I wasn't sure if you were there or Norway. Alas.

Nope. Not in Europe anyway. I suspect Lesotho might be too far to go to get it.

Oh, I am being sensible. The wish to get home is really just a sham.

Not so fast. The dirty French have told him he's not allowed to rescue people.

SNCF says about 1/3 of train drivers are striking, but there are extra international services. *NM*

If you can get to Amsterdam, there are ferries to Newcastle.

And if you get to Newcastle, I'll pick you up if I can get the car from my sister in St Andrews. *NM*

It's nothing to do with the card you pay with. Travel insurance is a freebie with the Advance A/c.
