If you have built up piles of Cholesterol, heavy exercise could dislodge some "plaques" or such. They're not causing problems for you now, perhaps, but if they're free floating and get to an important capillary bed? You could be in a world of hurt. They could clog or burst a vessel in your brain, lung or heart and you'd be in a bad place.
While that's a concern, it doesn't really work like that. The cholesterol plaques are pretty static and cling to the vessel walls. It's not a thrombus that could get dislodged or something.
I think without knowing other parts of MMM's history and physical exam, and what kind of exercise he does, it's hard to guess why the Dr. recommended less exercise... It's not something typically recommended for high cholesterol. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite recommendation.
Things I have been told by health care professionals to cut down on in the past few weeks......
