And even then, they might not cook all the way through, depending on how hot it gets. The beans will need a good hot start in order to cook. That's why, on the stove at least, you bring them to a boil first and then lower the heat to let them simmer. I had a crock pot full of beans that never cooked completely, despite being in there for nearly 12 hours.
