I'm lucky that my current bf is a vegetarian. I was too during most of my formative years, and while I'll eat meat now, I'm always nervous when cooking it. In my head, there's only a tiny little zone between plywood and "omg it's going to kill you with its evil unsafe meaty properties."
That said, I did cook a pretty awesome pancetta-wrapped pork tenderloin for Christmas this year.
And I can confirm the other thing and the paranoia about meat too.
