Total NSSP, but I'm pretty excited. A while back I went and took the test to qualify for a job with the census bureau. It was super easy, and I went home really hoping that something would come of it... but weeks went by; I actually got my census form in the mail, and no one called me.
Until last night! They did a phone interview which basically amounted to, "Is the stuff you said on your application true? Okay, great, you're hired."
It's really great for me because the job only lasts 4-6 weeks-ish - so I get money to help pay bills, but I don't have to quit rudely after just a couple months of employment.
Why would I have to do that? Because I'm moving to WA state in July. (Probably, anyway!) I'm going on an adventure to the place of yellow banana slugs and temperate rainforests.
I know there are a few Rafonauts in the area (Jenny, Phelix, April?), but most of them aren't too active anymore... still, if anyone wants to think about doing a meet or spending some time together once I'm out there, please let me know.
So, good news all around... although it did just occur to me that I'm scheduled for a medical procedure/test during my first week as a government employee. I think I will probably not be able to work for two days when I have it. Hmm. Have been waiting to find out what's wrong with me for ages, but don't want to anger new employers. I guess this has become another advice-seeking post.
Mostly I'm just pleased though.

I have no advice, but continue hoping and praying all goes well with jobs, move and health.

Truth be told, I don't think Phelix was ever what you'd consider "active". Defintely passive. Yeah.
