Right. Ann Coulter said it best when the Duke case first broke...

Essentially, she pointed out that accuser and accused had both placed themselves in bad situations. I recall her words being something like "If you don't want to get raped, don't go to parties and take off your clothes for college guys. If you don't want to be falsely accused of rape, don't go to parties where women are taking off their clothes." (as it turned out, the fact that some of the accused in that case had not actually BEEN at the party didn't stop them from being falsely accused, but it is still good advice)
Roethlisberger is already once bitten. He should know better. His having already been accused once, a predator or fortune-hunter could think she has more credibility now and be more likely to target him. And now people are going be more likely to see a pattern of behavior, even if one does not truly exist.
I read a book years ago "The Dark Side of the Game" by a former NFL player. He stated that NFL players trying to pick up women run into a couple of problems. The first is that they attract gold diggers fishing for palimony settlements & child support gravy trains, or women looking to put a notch on the bedpost, and the second is that "nice girls" are wary of them, because of the nature of the game they play and the stereotypes of them as brutes. These two issues dovetail in a case of a rape accusation. The author's point was that it's no easier for a football player to get a girl worth having than a normal person, but it should also serve notice to players to be extremely wary of situations like Roethlisberger may be in - they attract gold-diggers and fame-seekers and they have a reputation for violence and brutality. If you have that kind of double whammy on your back, don't be alone with strange women in shady circumstances. Common sense. Like wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle.
