There have been several celebrity rape trials in recent years, but Ben Roethlisberger appears to be getting a very mild treatment comparatively. Think about how much flack Mike Tyson and Kobe Bryant got during their rape pre-trials.

Look at how much flack Tiger Woods got during his recent misadventurous car accident and subsequent revealings.

Look at how much flack Michael Vick got before all the facts about his case were revealed.

The press has handled Ben Roethlisberger very conservatively so far. Do you think race is an issue?

I am not rushing to judgement, but there are several things that don't look very good for Big Ben right now. Big Ben has now apparently admitted sexual contact, but not sexual intercourse, with the accuser. This said sexual contact apparently took place in a public bathroom with no witnesses. Why was Big Ben going in the bathroom with this girl? That alone, won't look good with a jury.

The accuser apparently has some kind of injury that she was treated for at the hospital. Big Ben claimed that the accuser slipped without provocation on his part. Finally, Police are asking for a DNA sample.

All in all, it doesn't look good. It could be a classic 'he-said, she-said' rape case, but usually the woman wins those cases if there is enough circumstantial evidence.

Big Ben's strategy is apparently to hire the best lawyer and a team of investigators. This team is going to turn this into a bloodbath, and the accuser is going to get very dirtied in this case-- much like the Kobe Bryant trial. We will have to wait and see if charges are filed.
