If it is right we would be willing to defend for ourselves then I don’t see why would not being willing to grant asylum to someone who is being denied that right. I am far from an expert on German law but if there is a real chance that they could have their children taken from them then I think they have justification for feeling threatened. I would consider someone trying to take my kids to be equivalent to come after me with a machete, in fact they better bring more then that.

The fact that it is NATO ally really shouldn’t play a factor. Sorry we believe you have the right to do what you are doing and we would like to help you but it is our friends who are persecuting you is not exactly the high road.

We don't tell other people seeking political asylum that they should have gone through normal channels and if we are going to disallow people who flaunted the law political asylum we should just shut the whole program down and call it quits.
