Speaking as someone who loves academia and never quite saw the point of having children, I may not be the right person to answer here. That being said, your boss is clearly a dim bulb and you should ignore her. If money is all that matters (which seemed to be her first point), why would anyone have children, anyway? Her two arguments are contradictory.
