Er, yeah, that's rather unprecedented... when I saw your title I first thought it was a joke, then that it was a bizarre FIFA move to tackle the rampant and rather unhealthy way in which teams like Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and others buy players nowadays (though then they could hardly have singled out Chelsea so). But as punishment for doing that, yes, very weird. I don't imagine the story will end there.
I thought it was a joke after checking Sky Sports News, BBC Sports, Goal.com and Fifa.com! I'm waiting for the official response from Chelsea, but the punishment really does seem so disproportionate and a real kick in the teeth for Ancelotti who was fairly inactive this summer anyway.
Ouch.
I guess the most important question on everyone's lips is how will this alter fantasy football tactics next year?! I know at least eleven other people thought the same thing.
