Plus...that's a very nice area. Preston, Lancaster, and Blackpool are all nice places to visit as well.

I suspect it's quite different when you're on the outside looking in. Personally, I wanted to visit an area that wasn't too absurdly touristy, but still had plenty of neat old world things to offer. That area was a nice blend of all that. Maybe if I was there for more than a couple of weeks I would have a different opinion of it, but as it is...I liked it a lot, had a good time, and got to visit some pretty cool places.
