You're very demeaning to people who have jobs you consider beneath you by the very fact that you think the job is beneath you. You say you appreciate them and are glad they do the job, but so what? If you consider yourself too good for a job that some people are glad to have, then you consider yourself better than them.
Which seems rather exaggerated, American mentality or no. Not thinking much of a certain job doesn't have to imply a negative judgement of the people who have those jobs. Unless you think stating obvious facts like that a university-educated person is smarter and more qualified for a more intellectual type of job than most people working menial jobs is a "negative judgement".
