Yes, I've gone without work here in town for a while when I could have taken a fast food job or something. But that was because of how I had budgeted my student loan money, or I was living with my grandmother and had low costs, or I simply couldn't find anything that suited vet school as well (in that, worked around the hours and energy demands of vet school, not necessarily resume-wise).
So yes, I have avoided working because there were no jobs that suited my interest/preferences (although I did keep looking every week).
But in different circumstances, I would have been willing to work anything I was capable of working.
That also being said, once I have my DVM, I would hope I don't have to worry about it. Luckily enough for me, a DVM can almost always find some sort of work in their field!!
