I have a pretty nice desktop, because that's what I use most of the time. I also have a low-end laptop though, and use it, too, quite a bit. It's the next best thing to a desktop for doing real(ish) work, away from home. Some of us (particularly college students) need to do more than just check email once or twice while out for the day. Netbooks won't cut it for hours of taking notes in class, or Maple work in the library with a calc 3 study group, etc.
An honest question- Why do people spend so much money on laptops?

Yup, I bought a netbook and it's better than any amount of money I could have spent on a laptop. *NM*

Mine are portable design machines, so my aging Powerbook will likely be replaced by a Macbook Pro. *NM*
