So put upon, sigh... Isaac Send a noteboard - 16/01/2010 06:22:09 PM
In fairness to you, I do definitely think that it would be harder to find books that are more reference books than textbooks, and those are more common in upper level courses (and science courses, from what I've seen).

No one should have to feel dated at 29, poor me, sob... Well, I checked a bunch of the listed sites, and when I could find the texts at all, the saving was usually around 30% for a used against the cover price. So I neatly cover my arse by that, upper-level science texts presumably just have short print runs and tend to be sold to those who are unlikely to resell them, thus the market leans toward limited savings.

Alternatively, checking some of the norm freshmen books, Cutnell, Heath, etc, I found copies for sale that were 60-70% off the list price for new. So regrettably I have to admit to being, hold on, let me think of an ego-saving way of phrasing 'dead wrong'...

Okay, 'slightly unaware of current market trends and the effect of e-busniess on introductory texts I haven't bought since I was 16 or 17'... how's that? ;)
