NFL: late july -> first sunday in february
college football: august -> first week of january
NBA: mid-october -> as late as the end of june
college basketball: mid-october -> mid-march
MLB: late march -> early november
NHL: i'm not really sure this season ever ends to tell you the truth
then there's also the tennis schedule...
australian open: mid-january
french open: late may/early june
wimbledon: late june/early july
US open: mid-september
and then there are plenty of other sports going on at various times throughout the year, most of which i rarely see discussed on this board. things like NASCAR, golf, volleyball, etc. so you see, you probably won't have a time frame when there is not some major sport being played, but you are more than welcome to start several non-sports threads if you think the boards are being dominated by the sports fans
