1. Atkins Diet (minimal carbs, no starch, high meat protein)
Causes rapid weight loss because by its unbalanced nature, it increases burning of fat tissue. Can cause severe reactions in obese patients. Did I mention its unbalanced nature?
2. Vegetarian (mostly fruits/vegetables, sometimes dairy and eggs)
Can be sustainable, if your dairy and egg intake is good. Also you need proteins. Never was really clear on how to get lots of those from veggies. But it's possible to strike a good balance here.
3. Vegan (absolutely no animal products)
V. bad. Lots of deficiences.
4. Mediterranean Diet (high plant consumption, fruit desserts, olive oil for fat, cheese and yogurt, white meat, eggs, low red meat, wine)
I would eat that. And studies seem to show it's pretty healthy and balanced. Not too much wine, though.
5. Paleolithic Diet (no potatoes, grains, dairy or beans, encouraged lean meat consumption, most plants, mostly water/tea as beverage)
This sounds like a primitive Atkins. Bof.
6. Raw Food Diet (mostly like Paleolithic diet, but NO COOKING ALLOWED)
That's just funny
My personal opinion, is that all of them except the Raw Food Diet have their merits and for the most part are all based on reasonable nutrition. I just read some articles on the Paleolithic Diet and of these, I think it would be the one I followed. I just like potatoes too much. And feta. And Ice cream. But besides that, I really good do it. The bean thing sounds out-of-the-blue, but if you research the thought behind it, it does make sense.
Eh, it depends what you mean by diet. The important thing is having a good balance with enough carbs, protein and fat, and enough fiber, without losing out on your vitamins, essential acids and minerals. I don't think evicting foods is so great, and I definitely don't think taking supplements to compensate is either.
