You call this man friend. If he returns the feelings then the friendship deserves a level of honesty between the two of you. Put your criticism in mild or even kind terms, but let the man know that your opinion is just one and that he should seek out others. A hard truth can hurt, but we all appreciate a hard truth up front than a easy lie that hurts even more down the line.
