you click on it in iTunes, and on the main page there should then be an option to manually manage the music.

Plug it in so iTunes finds it, and then I can have 2 different systems for the 2 devices? I can have the original iPod still set up to automatically do its thing, but manually manage the Shuffle?

And it won't sneakily put all my stuff on the new one while I'm trying to figure this out?

If it does, you can delete it again.

I only have one iPod, and I am using iTunes on a mac, so you might want to doublecheck this with someone else; but I know my iTunes distinguishes between different iPods.

When do I do that? Before I plug the new guy in? - 01/12/2009 06:56:46 PM 359 Views
No. Plug the new guy in first so iTunes recognizes it. - 01/12/2009 07:08:37 PM 368 Views
