Sometimes I think we all do that to some extent. Joel Send a noteboard - 21/11/2009 02:03:36 AM
I don't bother answering your absurd posts about the issue anymore because it is quite obvious you and others like you will never be convinced regardless of what evidence of climate change is offered. But, I suspect that people like you think if you keep posting and spreading your message then you will change the minds of those who are not scientifically literate. You and others like you apparently have more time to do so than serious and professional scientists who are actually trying to address the topic.
Pretty sad strategy in reality but it might actually work for you, in which case, we and future generations will all be the worse for it.

And btw, before you accuse me of being some slap-happy liberal who will support any "tax" on global warming or something, don't. I don't support the latest "treaty" or whatever they are calling it for several different reasons including concerns about who will pay for environmental policy changes. But, I also don't deny the obvious (and the data IS obvious) due to my political motivations. The issue is real and it should be addressed in a responsible and fair-as-possible way, but denying it because it doesn't suit your lifestyle is just plain asinine.

Or, hell, maybe I'm just projecting again; if we're all guilty I'm no guiltier than any, and that's a cornerstone of politics, too, right? ;) I know a lot of people deny various obvious truths despite mountains of evidence simply to avoid being wrong, not just about that one issue, but about EVERYTHING, because they treat their views as all of one piece, inseparable from one another. And, of course, anyone who disagrees is a mindless cretin who's wrong, wrong, WRONG, whatever they say. More and more I think the internet encourages that human tendency to dig in our heels and too often, to dig in MORE when faced with something we can't deny but won't accept. Which, of course, is part of why I'm not around as much, but as long as I keep lurking something is likely to catch my eye and compel a response periodically (yeah, going after Moses and terror trials so close together may have been unwise.... :P )
