It's important for you to tell her that you would rather go through this in (relative) privacy. See if you can get her another job, such as calling all the relatives, helping stock you with supplies, feeding your goldfish? She probably just wants to be involved, and it'll be difficult to not offend her when you tell her you don't want people in there, so you probably need a back-up job or something to suggest.


I really like the idea of having her be the person to call others. when it is time your husband can call her and then she can call everyone else. By the time she is finished you and your husband will be in the room and she won't be able to attend. Just time the initial call to her at the last available moment, e.g. when you guys are checked into the hospital and you are heading wherever it is a woman in labor goes. He can make the call and then catch up to you. That should keep her busy for awhile. ;)
