That is useful and interesting. Thanks for the link. Lupine Send a noteboard - 13/11/2009 12:56:49 AM
But on reflection, I guess my concerns about this drug aren't the sort that are going to be reported by the average user. This is what worries me:

The most severe side effects are ten times higher-than-average incidence rates of serious, irreversible birth defects (teratogenic) such as births of brainless babies (anencephaly). Major risk of birth defects such as spina bifida has been demonstrated among populations of female patients who took the medicine in childbearing age.

Now, this is internet med research, admittedly... maybe I ought to know better, but so far, my psychiatrist hasn't called back to say yea or nay about it, and that little paragraph freaks me out quite a bit. Logically, it would seem like it should only matter if the woman is pregnant while taking the drug (I'm not, and have no intention of becoming so), but there's that phrase, "childbearing age." So I don't know. At this point I haven't gone to get the prescription filled, and in typical all-or-nothing fashion, have stopped taking my other meds too. Argh, I can be dumb sometimes. I'll start again tomorrow. Because now that I've written it here, I have to.:P
