I am very possessive about my books.
I've sold two books in my life, both was by Pullman, who I hate.
I never lend anyone my books, they don't treat them well enough, or they never return them.
I don't give away books, toss them, burn them, or sell them.
I have no idea how many I have, too many, spread around both in my home, my sisters home, my mom's, my dads, and probably in places I've forgotten. I also have different versions of the same ones. Paperbacks, hardbacks, limited editions, graphic versions, translated etc.....
Will I reread all of them? No. But I have a child who might love them one day, and a husband who likes books I hate.
And I admit it... I hate the idea of other people owning my books, so they will never be sold.
But I admit it, sometimes when I walk around flee markets I get a bit sad. That there might be a entire collection there that someone spent an entire life building, and loving, and when they died it was sold/given off as junk.
My books reflects different part of my life. I have the flee market period with no money, I have the hardback period when I earned a bit more. I have schoolbooks, emo books, creative hobby books, art books trash literature and I love them all!
God bless the books!
I don't own a single ebook though, but I should get a kindle!

I'm at an interesting crossroads myself, now that I've got an eBook reader.

People seem to lend books! I am in a distinct minority. I don't lend books. Or give them to people.

Library donation is a good idea; you might check around with some local schools, too.
