That's where those scene came from. Weird, interesting movie. It kind of freaked me out a little when I watched it as a child. I have no idea how they got the animals to do everything they did.
Never seen. What's the backstory?
It's a film made by a French director that was brought to English. It's much different from most movies in that not only is there very little dialogue, there's not even narration. It's the story of a bear cub whose mother dies, and who has to survive in the wild, and he makes friends with another bear, but there are hunters after said bear.
It tells the entire story through the emotions and body language of the animals. The movie uses trained animals throughout (the big male bear is the same one used in The Edge, and The Great Outdoors, if you've ever seen those). They get the animals to do some pretty incredible scenes together.
