The cost keeps going up while the return really hasn't. If you get a EE it isn't that hard to justify the cost but if you graduate 70K in debt with a Lit degree I think you may have been better off with out it.
I would go one step further and say that for 90% of the population the 11th and 12th grade are pretty much a waste of time. 80% of the population doesn't learn anything in their last two years of school that they will remember much less use.
Education is important but some how we have come to equate spending large amounts of time in a class with education.
