There's something about the Left that just adores everything anti-American. There's a nexus there between communism, sorry, "social justice", extreme Islamism and the notion of revolutionary violence that find their apogee in the Guardian, Linda Sarsour and Carlos the Jackal. Religion is poison, unless it's Islam, and then it's not just good, it's awesome. It's okay for them to murder gays and oppress women because hey, they're just victims of the evil US. All cultures are great except for Western culture, because after all, what have the Romans has the West done for anyone? I mean, aside from the notions of human rights, free markets, class mobility, modern democracy, the Internet, television, radio, the car, the airplane, the iPhone, space flight, research universities, the polio vaccine and the Slinky (can't forget Slinky), just what has the West done for anyone?
No, the Guardian finds a nobility in cultures where people wipe their ass with their hands. I guess it's just more "authentic". They like political groups that engage in the mass murder of people who aren't radical enough because again, it's somehow our fault. It doesn't matter that Hamas viciously tortures and kills people they suspect of cooperating with Israel just to make an example out of them. The real villain is always Israel. I'm surprised the Guardian doesn't call it "the Zionist entity". I know it supports the BDS movement.
At a practical level, talking to anyone makes sense if there is a chance that it will lead to progress in solving a problem. However, let's just be honest here for a moment: there is no solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at this point. Hamas could change its charter 20 times, or just change it in a week to say, "We recognize Israel, we love Israel, Israel and the Jews are the best," but the trust level is SO LOW that no one will take them at their word. No one will do that now. I doubt Hamas trusts Israel enough to take steps to build any lasting peace. There is an admission on their part that Israel can hurt them more than they can hurt Israel, but I doubt there's much that will come of it.
In summary, if you're going to post a piece about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict try to find a source that isn't so pro-Palestinian like the Manchester Fucking Guardian. Hell, as irritated as the Economist makes me these days with its ossified notions of globalism and its hard left turn on so many issues, I would still take it seriously if it wrote something about the topic. But not the Guardian. It, like the Leftists it represents, is a pile of shit.
