I can't do serious annotations with my nook, which makes electronic reading out of the question. Similar issue when I'm reading cases.
I just typed relevant notes onto the big, cumbersome computer (College was way back in 1998-2002. Ah my Compaq Presario, I remember it well).
Anyway, now there are eBook textbooks that let you highlight passages. Add notes. Etc. It's quite amazing to do it on an iPad. And you can rent those textbooks from Amazon too.
So even when going for my graduate degree, I used my laptop for note taking from books. I also typed notes in classes on the laptop too.
I was always one of those people who never marked up a book in any way.
