Exactly four weeks ago today, I had to call a plumber because my bathrooms wouldn't drain - toilet wouldn't flush, bathtub drain was slow, etc. Three hours and 900 bucks later, it was "fixed." Temporarily. The plumber told me he thought my main sewer line was collapsing and would eventually need to be excavated and replaced.

Eventually turned out to be three weeks. Last Friday the same things started happening again. Toilet wouldn't flush and running the water in the upstairs bathroom would back up into the downstairs bathtub. So for a week, I have had no plumbing. No toilet, no shower, no washing machine. Nothing.

The contractors are here today. Right now one is running over 100 feet of camera line down my toilet line to locate the exact section that collapsed. My whole house smells like mud flats at low tide.

Once he is done, the excavator starts digging up my yard with a backhoe. Then the plumber replaces the pipe and they backfill. Supposedly this can all be accomplished before end of day. Did I mention this will cost around $5,000.00 and none of it is covered by homeowner's insurance?

So far 2017 has not been a very good year.
