What's your style & what are you in the mood for? Jeordam Send a noteboard - 24/03/2017 05:38:56 PM

I watch too much TV. I can totally admit that. But as a single guy who lives alone, the TV keeps me company... So I'll list a bunch of stuff and the "general" feeling around it.

Strike Back (UK version prequel & US version 4 seasons) - Great action. Good plot. Think 24 action without the strictures of broadcast TV, as well as the fantastical twists of plot/unbelievablity.

Penny Dreadful (US, 3 seasons) - Scary/horror genera. Can get melancholy at times. Think "realistic" Buffy in Victorian England.

Banshee (US, 4 seasons) - Tough to describe, but small town Pennsylvania sheriff with a hidden past. Factor in Ukrainian mob, Amish "mob", Native American issues, with a fantastic cast. This would be my Number 1 choice.

Vikings (US, 4 seasons...3 and first half of season 4 on disk) - Like Game of Thrones, more vikings, less dragons. Not always predictable on where the plot is going, so that makes it fun. Also fun to see culture not widely put into shows. <still on TV>

DaVinci's Demons (US, 3 seasons) - Reminded me of the Sherlock Holmes movies, but of DaVinci. Just a fun/diverting show.

Spartacus (US, 4 seasons) - Racy & graphic. Think 300, but a four season show. The dialogue is unique and fun. Watching the progression...season 1, then prequel, season 3, season 4...just too good. More emotional then one would think which could barely go an episode without graphic nudity/sex and every episode had graphic violence. Way more emotional then you would think. I'm totally ok with saying that I teared up at the very end and got emo chills too...and that was from the end credits!

Battlestar Galactica (remake: 4 seasons) - Older show, but you may not have watched it. Definitely a good pick. First season is genius.

Uhhh....so yeah.
Some good shows up there.

p.s.- Honorable mentions of course to Star Trek, Buffy/Angel, Lost, and Mad Men.
