La la land - saw it twice. Loved it. half the audience on the second time left. Fuck em, heartless bastards

Hacksaw ridge - Loved it too.

Moonlight - very heavy. Very touching. But left me feeling very introspective. My gf didn't like it but appreciated some aspects of it. Her sister said it was one of the worst movies she had seen in which she had not fallen asleep.

Manchester by the sea - deep and deeply depressing.

Arrival - watched it twice.

Hidden Figures- easy to love this film. Effective film making by the numbers. Great performances.

Nocturnal Creatures - Was it nominated ? Very disturbing, chilling film. Reminded me of the first season of true detective.

Lion - I also liked this one. Especially the scary first part showing a child lost in the crazy indian train system. I felt like this when I toured China by myself.
