View original postHer goal isn't public service. Her goal is her ambition. You can see it more often then anything else. Her "fortress" mentality is to hide things that she knows are her weak points. And I'm not talking about the standard political stuff. We're looking at face-value stuff here.
Every top politician's goal is ambition at least in part, I think we're all clear on that. And I'm not saying she's an idealist like, say, Jimmy Carter (which didn't exactly make him a better president, anyway). But, unlike apparently a lot of people and certainly nearly all Republicans, I do think she genuinely wants to make a difference for people - and even in her 'first woman president ever' goal that you mention, it's not only about her but also about all American women.
View original postHer goal is the history books. Look at her acceptance speech of the nomination. It was all about "woman" this or that. Let's also remember that if it wasn't for her last name, she would be a non factor. She isn't there because of her accomplishments. She is there because of her husband's accomplishments. She is there because there is the hope in Democtratic circles that it will be the (Bill) Clinton years all over again. Which if we take off the rose colored glasses for a moment, weren't that good. Don't ask, Don't tell....her husbands. Something she supported. Now she doesn't....
I'd say they were that good, just not necessarily because of Clinton - Democrats making the usual mistake of failing to properly distinguish between which good and bad things can be fairly attributed to a president, and which are broader trends outside their power. The Republicans do the same with Reagan, of course.
It's true her career was made possible by her husband - she has accomplishments all her own, but those would never have sufficed to take her to the White House. Not because she's not competent for it - I think she is - but because she's really not that good a campaigner, and lacks the ability to make herself popular.
View original postIf the Republican's (read: media's incessant coverage of) offering of Trump wasn't so catastrophically bad, we wouldn't be where we are now. Let's all remember that the last time going around, she was soundly beaten by a first year, junior senator...
I certainly agree with that.
View original postThis time all she had to do was beat out a little old man from a backwater state who was half a step away from being full-blown socialist (despite the fact he likes big houses and private jets).
And that.
View original postAmerica made it's bed...and it will sleep in it now. Either way, unless Congress completely deadlocks on everything...the future will be quite different from the last 8 years...and not in the good way.
Yep. I find it interesting that you're now suggesting you were happy about the Obama years, though? But in all seriousness, I've never understood this view that Congress deadlocking is a good thing. It has already been deadlocking for decades to greater or lesser degrees, resulting in woefully delayed infrastructure investments, an utter inability to seriously tackle the budget and entitlements, and the list goes on.
My secret ----- at least to most on this board!

That's something I always ask her supporters, and never get a decent answer.

And what did she do as Secretary of State? (other than delete emails after storing them unsafely)
