Your attitude will destroy the Republican Party. Tom Send a noteboard - 09/03/2016 02:49:25 AM

For DECADES the Party has been struggling to energize voters, expand the base, bring in new blood and get people excited about the GOP. The base has chosen some TERRIBLE candidates on top of it (by the time I get to cast a ballot in a primary it's always been too late). Bob Dole was really our strongest candidate in 1996? I supported W and then he ended up betraying conservatism with his profligate spending, including on a war that we got nothing for (Trump is spot-on right on that point). Then the base gave us John McCain, a warmongering piece of shit who did exactly one good thing in his entire life and has managed to fuck it up since then (including picking Sarah Palin as a running mate). Then we got Romney, who was a decent enough guy but just out of touch, sort of like George H.W. Bush was in 1992.

Now, finally, Trump is actually energizing voters, expanding the base, bringing in new blood and getting people excited about the GOP. And HIS OWN PARTY is attacking him with a vile meanness that is beyond anything he's thrown at anyone. Hell, I wish Republicans attacked Obama and the Democrats with this level of vigor, energy and relentlessness. Then maybe people like me wouldn't be supporting Trump. Maybe we would support a Kasich or a Bush if for the last 8 years Republicans had actually fought for us. And all you can do is bitch like a five-year-old girl and talk about voting independent.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
