Let's not kid ourselves by pretending Trump has a foreign policy. Of any kind.
View original post- keeping Medicare and Social Security as they are
That's not so much moderate as it is populist, unless you've got a plan of how to pay for it. Which nobody does.
View original post- abortion exemptions for rape and incest
Exemptions, huh?
View original postbesides the fascist rhetoric, and the xenophobia, he's the moderate among the people who are likely to be the candidate.
That's like saying besides the murder, torture and slavery, Al-Baghdadi is the best ruler in Syria.
View original postrubio is slightly more moderate but it's not clear he has a path to the nomination at this point.
I'm not sure what you're basing that on - as far as I'm aware there are very few candidates whose path is clearer. If any. Partially because he's less moderate than Bush, Christie and arguably Kasich, but more so than Cruz, and ahead of Trump and Carson by virtue of not being insane.
View original postkasich is only moderate when it's politically expedient to be so -- he's certainly got a far more conservative record as both US House member and governor than his speeches would lead you to believe.
Of course he does - that's the only reason he can afford to give speeches like that. Or hopes he can afford to give speeches like that, anyway.
View original postafter them, it's a long rightward march to the rest of the field. cruz, huckabee, fiorina, carson, and jeb! are all trying to out-conservative each other because that's what gets them headlines. the biggest problem is that cruz actually seems to believe what he says. the rest are just looking to cash in on their "fame" when it's all over.
That hardly applies to Bush. Not that I really expect him to get anywhere at this point, but out of all Republican candidates, he seems about the least likely of them all to be in it for the fame. Except maybe Graham, who deserves a lot more attention than he gets.
