We had AR at my elementary school, and it was the same deal. There was a big tree poster in the library and each kid got a leaf that climbed to the top (100 points). They had to add a branch specifically for the leaves of my best friend and me. Also, it helped that WoT was in the AR system and they're all worth 40-65 points.

Heh. They did something like that when I was in sixth grade, and mentioned a prize for whoever read the most. Two eighth grade girls rolled their eyes at me and basically said "why bother?"

I didn't win though, because they counted "books" rather than pages or quantity. Even when I was reading twice as fast as some kids, it wasn't enough when you're books are three and four times the length.
