He really is not Joel Send a noteboard - 10/08/2015 01:23:35 PM

View original postWhy was this assclown not laughed out of the room right from the beginning? Why is he not only hanging in but leading the polls? What does that say about our process? What does that say about our media? What does that say about our citizenry?

Nothing good, that's for sure.

It says all those people in HS who never bothered with student council elections because "it's not like a REAL election, just a popularity contest" did not understand how real elections work. But most of us figured that by the time we graduated HS, or soon after: If the public chose smart, competent and qualified guys over clueless charming ones we would have gotten Presidents Stevenson and Nixon, re-elected Carter and Bush the Elder, and/or elected Dole, Gore, Kerry and McCain (though we kinda DID elect Gore, so maybe there are exceptions.) Trump is the logical extreme of choosing presidents based on money and celebrity rather than ability.

Yet they still need enough popularity with party leaders, insiders and donors to win their blessing, hence all the quadrennial talk of the "invisible primary." Trump is losing that one by as big a margin as he leads the polls. He is the definition of a candidate going nowhere fast.

Happy belated, btw, and hope you enjoyed it; I would have said so sooner, but have been full time parenting for nearly a month (what has two thumbs and is glad barnehagens summer vacation is over? THIS GUY! )
