as a woman. And? What is the big deal? Now the woman is happy.
Because telling the story of anyone who regrets such a decision is a transphobic hate crime, even on the rare chance anyone finds an outlet to so express such regrets, or publish studies showing that they are not happy.
And vice versa of course. Some women feel like men, though born as women. And they take steps to live as a man. His quality of life is now better.
As a gay man, I fully support their decisions. As a human who wants other humans to be happy, I fully support their decisions. Because I was not born the way they were with their outlook, feelings, particular hormonal balance, I can't say that I understand what it is that they feel and go through. But clearly it is important enough to them that they undergo drastic changes so they can lead happy lives (that do not hurt anyone else).
Also, if a woman wants breast augmentation surgery, good for her. Whatever makes her happy (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else).
You basically get the idea - I support humans. I want other humans to be happy. And as long as no one else is hurt, I see no reason to withdraw that support.
I think you should probably talk with some transgender people. You may find more compassion in your heart after you do. Or you may not and may remain the kind of person who thinks the way you do. Such is life. And such is this board.
Such is the nature of objective fact. Understanding how much someone really REALLY wants something, or wants it to be true does not make it true. It does not justify going to any and all extremes to pretend it's true.
And, since my original point was not about outlawing gender-disguising procedures, but about the propensities and arguments of liberals, absolutely every time they have made that argument involving privacy and not hurting anyone, that issue has become expanded upon to an increasing degree until it DOES infringe on the rights of the rest of us, stripping us of our freedom of expression, our freedom of association and freedom of belief.
You know who else isn't hurting anyone? Obese people, and consumers of trans fats or whatever the diet industry's bugaboo is this week. Any arguments that can be applied to the issues of nutrition and obesity can be applied to gender-oriented self-mutilators. Demands on the medical industry? Check. People are endangering their children by indulging them? Check. Unsightly? Check.
You want to chop off your dick, fine. You want to get a boob job, fine. You want to call yourself a man or woman, in spite of your chromosomes? Do that. But don't expect me to treat you like anything else if I know the truth. If your rights of expression including presenting yourself as a different gender, then you have to accept my right to say "No you're not. Get out of my house/store/office, you freak."
